Rodolfo was once a sweet potato farmer in Cuba. He escaped from Cuba as a young man on a make-shift raft. His wife died on that journey. He is a deaf-mute living in public housing. He makes a living as a garden advocate for the Seeds of Harmony community garden near his home in the largest public housing project in Portland, Oregon.
